The world’s largest CHAMPUS pyramid

RITZENHOFF was asked to help mark the 10th anniversary of Galileo, the science magazine. The jubilee broadcast was due to be something spectacular. RITZENHOFF was invited to break a record by building the world’s largest champagne glass pyramid. These glasses were, however, not just supposed to be any glass, but in fact the CHAMPUS glassesmade by RITZENHOFF themselves. These are however very delicate and for this reason difficult to stack. A very tough challenge indeed, which was however well tackled by the RITZENHOFF team, who succeeded in reaching the record breaking height. During the live broadcast and in the presence of the Galileo presenter Daniel Aminati the last of the 3000 glasses was positioned at a height of 8,64 m where the Champagne magnum was then poured into the glasses.

As seen in O - The Oprah Magazine (September issue 2007)

RITZENHOFF PARTNERS WITH The Coca-Cola Company
TO PRODUCE NEW ICONIC SERIES

(Atlanta, GA – June 2007)  Ritzenhoff, the Germany-based manufacturer of premier tabletop and home accessories, is proud to announce a special partnership with one of the world’s leading corporations, The Coca-Cola Company.  Ritzenhoff developed four limited-edition On Ice glasses for Coca-Cola exclusively with four designers from around the world. These unique designs were launched at the Grand Opening of the New World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta, GA.

Ritzenhoff was chosen as a partner because of it’s quality drink-ware, brand positioning and it’s success in the US market since Kress International Importers took over distribution in 2004.  The first meeting between the two companies took place over a year ago at a design tradeshow and was part of Coca-Cola’s new initiative to incorporate designer and high quality drink-ware into its group of product offerings.

Designers from left to right:

Dominic Pangborn (USA)

Auge (Austria)

Julien Chung (Canada)

Marie Peppercorn (UK)

This new collection is one of the many that align with the new brand direction, which targets younger, more contemporary consumers. According to Franz Kress, president of Kress International Importers, Quality is our first priority, with unique design coming in at a close second. We worked closely together to realize the goals of both companies while allowing the artists to remain true to their visions and distinctive styles.”

The colorful and playful glasses were designed by four of the more than 300 emerging and established international, artists, architects and designers of Ritzenhoff’s portfolio. The designers are: London based artist Marie Peppercorn, Austrian illustrator/artist Auge, American designer Dominic Pangborn and Canadian illustrator Julien Chung.

These special edition glasses, created for Coca-Cola, are particularly collectible as they are being produced in a limited production of 2,000. Every glass will be sold in a specially designed co-branded red triangle box that contains a red ice cube mold and background information on the designer. The On Ice collection will be sold in the Coca-Cola stores in Atlanta and Las Vegas and one design will be featured on the Coca-Cola website. Plans are already in the works to create additional co-branded glasses.

“Ritzenhoff glasses are collected by design-lovers all around the world. We are thrilled about this partnership and look forward to collaborating with Coca-Cola to create other highly collectable products that will make Coke enthusiasts smile. It is such an honor to be included in the state-of-the-art NWOCC store because we know how much planning went into its development ” says Mr. Kress.

Each glass is individually boxed and the boxes are numbered.
